  • Auction on 6/8/2014:

I have an article about Karl Uhlhorn a former member of your guild. I am having an auction on June 21, 2014 starting at 10am. The location is 115 Garfield St, Avoca, Nebraska. I have two items that Karl made, a spinning wheel #U16 1973, I bought this from Karl at that time. The other item I bought at their auction. It is the yarn winder that Karl and his wife Anna used. Photos of these can be seen at www.goEaster.com, click on auctioneering our sale is listed with photos of both items. I am so glad I read the article and you have this site available for me to alert the spinners of two of my personal items that will be sold. Thank you. Marianna Kirchhoff

Today at an estate sale I bought a Karl Uhlhorn spinning wheel with the date on the bottom as 1966! I am so excited! I don't know how to spin yarn, but I crochet with yarn and make crocheted lace. I'm going to learn how to use this thing! I also make tatted lace and am looking for someone to teach me bobbin lace... so this is all part of the skill set! The wheel is in gorgeous shape, from the house of a woman who used and treasured it. It's going to be an honor to own it, and now I know a little of it's history too! I really couldn't be more pleased! [email protected]
